Description

The Common Thread from Jeannette Douglas Designs. Jeannette used this as a teaching sampler and named it based on the companionship and camaraderie between stitchers:

“As common means ‘belonging to or shared by two or more individuals’ and thread means either ‘textile fibre twisted together’ or ‘a line of reasoning or train of thought that connects the parts in a sequence’, we can come to the conclusion that this piece encompasses our shared belonging to each other through our connection of our love of thread!”

The sampler is divided into different sections “A” through “I”. Each section has instructions per row or per motif in an organized manner.

This design is stitched in luxurious silk. Many “specialty” stitches are used – there are diagrams and written instructions for all of them, making this design approachable – if you have patience (and Google), your initial skill level with specialty stitches will improve with each section!
