Mill Hill Magnifica to Delica Beads Conversion

Mill Hill Magnifica Glass Beads

If you’ve managed to get your hands on Magnifica beads over the past 18 months, consider yourself lucky.

These beads have been “temporarily out of production” for almost two years as of this writing (Jan 2024).

Wichelt does still intend to resume manufacturing of these beads at some point, however, the timing depends on factors out of their control.

In the mean time, what can we do?

Delica Bead Conversion

A good alternative to Mill Hill Magnifica beads are Delica Miyuki 11/0 seed beads. Like Magnifica beads, these are very uniform consistently cylindrical glass beads.

I hoarded the last stock of Magnifica beads to the best of my ability (there are a few I simply couldn’t get my hands on) and then bought the physical Delica color card (the one with REAL beads). Here is my best effort a conversion. Most of these are quite good. In a few cases I had to use the same Delica color more than once as the conversion isn’t exact. Where I wasn’t quite satisfied, you’ll see a “?” next to the delica number.

  1. Thank you so much for providing this information! There are so many of us stitchers out there who have been out of luck and out of stock in terms of the Magnifica beads, so it’s great to have a conversion. Question if I may: where did you buy the Delica color card? I would so like one for my own use!

      1. I’ll take a look! Thank you!
