Description
Heritage Sampler, from Plum Street Samplers.
Designed by Paulette Stewart, © 2017.
This richly detailed sampler is divided into three horizontal panels representing key eras of American history: the 1620 Pilgrim settlement with a colonial home, harvest bounty, and a British-flagged house; the 1776 Revolutionary period featuring the iconic ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ Gadsden flag and soldiers crossing water; and an 1860 Civil War-era scene depicting Abraham Lincoln, a First Lady figure, and the White House. The sampler is framed with exuberant folk-art florals, vining greenery, and decorative urns, and closes with a stirring verse from ‘America the Beautiful.’ The overall aesthetic blends antique sampler tradition with vibrant storytelling, making it a true collector’s piece.
