The Walker Sisters pays homage to two remarkable young needlewomen — Hannah Walker, who stitched her sampler at just 6 years old in 1814, and her sister Jane, who completed hers in 1828 at age 11. The book features both faithful reproduction charts of these treasured historical pieces and a collection of newly designed projects inspired by their motifs, including a personalisable sampler, a filled pincushion, and a cylindrical pincushion or needle keep — all rendered in the warm, muted palette characteristic of Blackbird Designs’ beloved primitive aesthetic. Rich with alphabet bands, flowering urns, birds, and folk motifs, this is an advanced-level collection that will appeal deeply to stitchers who love early American needlework heritage.
